Due to the growth of our Data Analysis course we now have vacancies in our campus in Edinburgh. Please note, this is a full time, on site position.

CodeClan is operating in accordance with all Government regulations, and has put provisions and PPE in place to ensure staff and students are working within social distance guidelines. You’ll bring technical experience and ideas which will help ensure the success of our course curriculum.

Role Description

Core Purpose

To deliver courses to students on the 14-week Professional Data Analysis course and on the range of CodeClan short courses. To actively support and work with students with classroom, lab and project work on a one-to-one basis and in small groups. To provide technical guidance, problem solving support and mentoring to students. To guide and mentor Assistant Instructors and Technical Assistants. To support development of new courses in line with business needs. To support Cohort Leads and Senior Instructors in managing the delivery of courses.

Responsibilities

Delivery of lessons and provision of support to students during lessons and assignments ensuring that

  • To deliver all content on the intensive and short courses offered by CodeClan
  • Deliver webinar and taster session content
  • Assist in delivering content for careers week
  • When required, help ensure course content is in line with curriculum and
    complies with SQA accreditation requirements
  • Review of notes, materials and/or learning resources is provided when
    required
  • Assistance provided in writing and developing course content
  • Technical Assistants and Assistant Instructors are provided with mentoring and support for their personal development
  • Support is provided to Senior Instructors and HR with recruitment of instructors.
  • Attend/complete professional development programmes as required
  • Discipline in the classroom is managed in line with the Student Code of Conduct
  • Feedback is provided to students on their progression
  • Student learning or behaviour issues are identified and appropriate staff
    notified
  • Assistance is provided in Meet Your Cohort, Student Journey, Webinar, and Taster activities
  • Own skills and knowledge of course curriculum is extended and consolidated
  • Training completed throughout role to ensure you are confident and able to lead the course at a later date
  • Alignment with CodeClan’s business objectives and our values at all times

Experience Required

Essential

  • 1.5+ years experience of mentoring junior staff, teaching, or assisting in a classroom environment (as a CodeClan TA or in a similar role in industry or academia)
  • Solid knowledge of data analysis in two of: R, Python or SQL
  • Experience debugging code
  • Experience with statistics and machine learning
  • Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical audiences
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to multitask
  • Collaborative teamworking mindset
  • Interest in leading cohorts and mentoring junior staff
  • Willingness and passion to learn new things
  • Willingness and ability to contribute to course development

Desirable

  • Familiarity with version control software (git/github)
  • Familiarity with RShiny
  • Experience of working in professional data environment
