Initially set up by the Scottish Government, ScotlandIS and Skills Development Scotland, CodeClan’s mission is to bridge the digital skills gap in Scotland. This role has a hybrid working model that allows the person to manage their work from home and or office with limited travel in Scotland. We have offices/campuses in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

About the role

CodeClan is seeking an Industry Programme Director in Edinburgh to support CodeClan’s scaling goals. For the candidate with exceptional organisational skills, strategic thinking and execution, extraordinary work ethic and drive to achieve, this is an opportunity to become a key player in an entrepreneurial, growing and dynamic organisation involved in some of the most important global issues.

This position requires a working knowledge of the Scottish tech ecosystem, a background in creating and running industry sales and partner marketing programmes, and established relationships with senior leaders in business and technology. You will have a commitment to positive change, and a strong entrepreneurial streak. The right candidate will add value to an extraordinary portfolio of relationships, with leaders and members of the wider community. Your core objective will be to drive incremental and indirect revenue through these partner and alliance networks by creating a robust and scalable programme that directs and converts businesses at scale.

You will collaborate closely with the Sales, Marketing, Admissions, Partnerships and Business Leaders, as well as our trusted partner ecosystem and customer base to achieve common goals and drive CodeClan’s growth and success.

The role is based in Hybrid, and reports to the CMO.

What you will do

  • Develop and lead a robust and scalable Industry Programme strategy
  • It’s all about teamwork. You will be working closely with various stakeholders, such as the Industry, Marketing, Delivery and Admissions departments to develop and execute our Partner first GTM approach
  • You’ll have primary accountability for development of strategies, marketing, and relationships for Industry Programmes at CodeClan.
  • Co-own the lead & demand generation targets via partners
  • Support CodeClan’s annual growth along the path to become a digital skills academy leader
  • Organise and drive CodeClan’s industry Leadership and Practitioner roundtables
  • Constantly challenge the existing status quo, show a true passion and desire to innovate around Partner Marketing trends and techniques and think about how to bring the organisation to the next level
  • Lead acquisition of net-new partners and current partners to continue to expand awareness & accessibility of CodeClan, as well as driving & accelerating new and existing sales engagements alongside those partners
  • Plan and manage contracts, messaging, product integration, technology sourcing, and go to market plans with partners
  • Developing and communicating business development KPIs
  • Oversight of the firm’s CRM platform, technology and automation for partner marketing programmes
  • Management of data
  • Coordinating formal and informal RFPs
  • Oversight and coordination over onboarding document processing and tracking
  • Automation of programme at scale

What you will need

Candidates should possess the following characteristics:

  • Powerful intellectual curiosity that keeps the candidate ahead on substantive topics and challenges in the principal areas of focus for the Institute
  • Demonstrated consistent success in marketing, sales and/or business development
  • Proven ability to create, maintain and deepen relationships with the highest echelon of leaders in tech and business ecosystems
  • Ability to identify, prioritise and assist in the development of content that resonates with senior decision makers and corporate leaders
  • Confidence to speak and engage with senior executives
  • Outstanding oral and written communication abilities – both one-to-one and one-to-many
  • Desire to mentor and experience in managing associates
  • As this position requires working with industry, flexibility to be available outside of regular working hours is required as is a willingness to travel to events
  • Familiarity with event production; the ability to communicate with and focus high level groups of businesspeople, policymakers, stakeholders and innovators on complex issues and potential solutions
  • Strong knowledge of the Scottish tech ecosystem
  • Familiarity with CRM solutions, and marketing technology essential
  • Fluent in English
  • A highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within a team context
  • Ability to close deals

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements

  • Degree equivalent experience in Business, Marketing or Communications
  • 5+ years in executive alliance or partnership, business development, marketing or scaling roles
  • History of successfully building, developing and leading strategic partnerships that drive meaningful revenue for the business
  • Technically oriented with business acumen

  • You are strong in- and love to convince people on our stages (trade shows, customer key notes, internal all hands, social media etc.), ignite people internally and externally by being a true evangelist
