Bill Douglas is a highly experienced Operations and Managing Director with a breadth of technical, commercial and leadership experience. He has over 20 years’ knowledge of manufacturing and software companies and has previously held the position of Head of Professional Services with private equity-backed VeriSIM. In addition, he was Operations Director at Zonal Retail Data Systems encompassing manufacturing, R&D and Customer Service. His most recent experience is in the Finance sector where he has led several significant programmes one of which was the launch of a bank’s mobile app. Bill has international experience gained in the USA, Europe, India and Dubai. His academic qualifications include a degree in Communications & Electronics Engineering from Napier University.
Melinda is a CEO with a passion for technology to drive economic growth in Scotland. As the leader of CodeClan, Melinda is championing the growing digital sector by supporting and encouraging individuals into the world of software development. Her experience as a Global VP of Software Sales and Marketing for ISVs and Alliances at IBM, has given her an insight on how the world embraces technology for commercial and social success. She is an experienced manager at leading diverse teams, at different stages of business maturity, with an emphasis of activating individuals to aspire to their dreams.
Fiona loves helping people and this has been a focus throughout her career. As Talent Development Business Partner, her main responsibilities include learning, employee engagement, inclusion and diversity. She also provides support for Early Careers, sits on the Global Defense Inclusion Council and UK Innovation Hub, is a STEM Ambassador, and Chairs the Leidos UK STEM Employee Resource Group. Prior to Leidos, Fiona was a recruiter for PwC and helped unemployed people back into work through learndirect. She holds a BA (Hons) in Business and is CIPD-qualified. In her spare time, she is a keen volunteer.
Kristen is an experienced business, product and service innovator. Her career has involved the development and delivery of new brands, value propositions and software always working at the intersection of strategy, design and technology. Kristen is Head of Open Experience at RBS. These are creative, collaborative spaces in London and Edinburgh dedicated to developing new innovative products, services and business models for growth. Kristen is passionate about creating teams that take ideas from inception to first market launch, then scaling. She also currently sits on the RBS Scotland Board and the Board of Fintech Scotland.
A marketing and strategy specialist, with a background in agency and running TEDxGlasgow, Cat is the director of Brand Scotland. A groundbreaking new initiative for Scotland, Cat works across Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and VisitScotland to coordinate international marketing activity and pool talent, resource and expertise, in order to raise Scotland’s profile and reputation on the world stage. This includes responsibility for managing brand image, digital infrastructure and talent development. Cat also sits on the Advisory Boards for Marketing Society Scotland and City Nation Place.
Graham currently leads the Engineering teams for the DataOps Engineering function for BlackRock. Responsible for development and product management of Aladdin’s Core Data Platform including Index and Benchmark Data, Security Reference Data, Market and real-time data as well as Aladdin’s Risk Reporting engine and capabilities.
Graham’s expertise is in Portfolio Management and Investment Data systems design and delivery.
Allan is CEO and co-founder of R3 IoT, a high growth tech start-up based in Glasgow. The company has grown rapidly since founding in 2018, winning various awards along the way including Scottish Edge. The business was recently listed as Scotland’s 5th most innovative company.
Prior to starting R3 IoT Allan was Head of Missions for Clyde Space and held Technical and Project lead roles in various aerospace projects in Defence and Space. Allan has a passion for developing the next generation of entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists and leaders and is an active Strathclyde Inspire Supporter.
Euan Robertson started his career in Academic research in the field of Distributed Artificial Intelligence. Following that he produced a patented artificially intelligent elevator scheduling algorithm before being part of the founding team at Spektra systems one of Scotland’s fastest growing technology firms.
Following Spektra Euan spent time in enterprise sales before joining the Royal Bank of Scotland leading their Retail Risk Systems strategy and Marketing Decision Platform Design. He then established his own management consultancy which advised acquiring Private Equity Firms before joining Big Data Analytics start-up Aquila Insight as their CTO.
He currently helps Private Equity Firms and other Financial Services firms in the use of data to drive business value. A passionate Scot who believes with entrepreneurial flair Scotland can compete on the world stage and therefore he devotes time to helping start-ups realise their dreams from a sound business footing. A chartered engineer he has MBA, MPhil and BSc degrees in business and engineering.
Phil Ford is the Head of Digital Technologies and Financial Services at Skills Development Scotland, leading a team to shape cross-sectoral strategies to ensure skills planning, investment and delivery are demand led in support of industry priorities. Phil has previously worked as a Regional Skills Planning Lead for SDS in the south east and south of Scotland. This role involved close partnership working with a range of stakeholders, to develop Skills Investment Plans to ensure that regional supply meets current and future demand. He has previously worked in several senior roles in the Construction Industry Training Board and most recently as the Strategic Partnerships Director for Scotland. In this position he was responsible for driving forward a £2m Joint Investment Strategy with the Scottish Government to address skills and training needs in the construction industry and working closely with politicians to influence policy development.
Alistair is a Chartered Accountant and advisor working with businesses across a number of sectors, and at all of their development stages, to help them understand and identify the actions behind the numbers that can be taken to improve their overall financial performance.
At the core of this work is encouraging people to look at business issues and opportunities from several different perspectives before choosing the best way forward.
