Roosa
Learn about the CodeClan instructor team – their career journey so far, their passions and interests, as well as their day to day work life.

Meet Roosa, who teaches on our Professional Software Development (PSD) course. We had a chat with her about why she chose to work at CodeClan, her advice for those looking to change their career, and what she gets up to in her free time…

Why did you want to join the CodeClan team?
I completed the Professional Software Development course last spring and always felt that working at CodeClan would be a great way to help others who were in a similar situation, to give back to the tech community and be surrounded by excellent people. It’s allowing me to learn more and more while also helping others from the point of view of someone who has just gone through the process too.
What would you say has been your CodeClan career highlight so far?
I joined the team about a month ago and have enjoyed every bit of it. Every time I’m able to help someone understand something a little bit better is a highlight!
What’s your favourite part of the job?
I really like seeing students develop stronger technical skills and confidence. And bug-fixing, always.
What advice do you have for someone who is thinking of studying at CodeClan?
Come along to an info session, reach out to people who’ve done the course and just do it. Learning something completely new is such a refreshing feeling and can help you grow your confidence in addition to opening up new career opportunities.
What do you do in your free time?
I like photography, going to gigs, playing board games and taking long walks. I’ve also been getting into all kinds of arts and crafts.
What’s your favourite book?
This is a tough one. Recently I’ve really enjoyed Ottessa Moshfegh’s My Year of Rest and Relaxation, and from the Scottish front I’d say Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. Also a big fan of classics like The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath and The Fall by Albert Camus.
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
I have absolutely no idea. Maybe someone who lives in Svalbard just so I’d get to go there!
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!
Pre-covid I used to do a lot of gig photography and I can’t wait to get back into it!
