We’re celebrating winning the award for Best Education/Training provider at the ScotlandIS Digital Tech Awards 2017.
The Digital Technologies Awards celebrate Scotland’s digital industry and sees representatives from all sectors, including telecoms, IT and digital media, gather to celebrate and show their support for Scotland’s thriving tech industry.
Taking place in Glasgow last night, we were delighted to be shortlisted alongside two impressive contenders, the Digital Xtra Fund, which supports a huge range of projects that help to get schoolchildren across the country into coding, and The Data Lab, who do brilliant work feeding much-needed Data Science graduates into industry.
Making a difference
We’d like to share our award with everyone in our ecosystem: students, staff, employers and sponsors! Our model is based on a collaborative, collective vision that requires immense tenacity, hard-work and belief from everyone.
Our CEO, Harvey Wheaton says, “Thanks to the industry for their continued support, which is crucial to ensuring we teach our students a curriculum that is current and relevant to the workplace. We would also like to thank all of the amazing students and graduates of CodeClan who have chosen to kick-start their new career in the digital sector through our courses, and of course the staff and instructors who are so incredibly passionate about the work we’re doing.”
Winning this award means we have been making a difference, not only to individual lives but to the growing tech industry in Scotland.
In 18 months we’ve trained over 240 students and built a network of 120 companies who employ them.
We’ve had great support along the way by SDS, Scottish Government, ScotlandIS, and SQA and buoyed by the growing number of people from all walks of life who want to join the digital revolution.
In turn, as we grow, we hope to extend our training to reach more non-tech businesses and people, disadvantaged groups and to encourage initiatives that build diversity within tech.
Employer partner success
We also shared the stage last night with a number of companies who not only won awards in fiercely contested categories, but who are also part of our employer partner community.
These companies have either hired our graduates or are actively engaging with students and CodeClan.
