Our events bringย employers face-to-face with programmingย students.
Speed Networking sessions take place regularly at our Edinburgh and Glasgow campuses, allowing students enrolled on our 16-week programming course to meet employers looking to hire into junior technical roles in Scotlandโs booming tech scene.
One recent event saw students getย suited and booted as 10 employers arrived at CodeClan to meet the students coming to the end of their intensive course.
Speed dating with a difference
Riffing on a speed dating theme, students took their places around the office and employers were given 10 minutes with each of them, allowing the latter an opportunity to better understand the career ambitions of the Cohort.
Students were also afforded an opportunity to hear first-hand what Scottish companies across various sectors are looking for in their digital teams.
โI found it a brilliant way to meet employers in a relaxed atmosphere,โ said Chris, one of the Cohort. โThe idea of facing multiple interviews is a daunting one, but the event helped break the ice. We heard about various tech jobs available after we leave CodeClan, many of which I wouldnโt have known about otherwise.โ
A success for students and employers
According to Leigh-Ann Donoghue from the Student Placement team, such events have proven popular with both students and employers, often leading directly to job opportunities.
โWe run the Networking event for each Cohort,โ said Leigh-Ann. โEmployers enjoy it as itโs an opportunity to put themselves in front of committed career changers – itโs an absolute must-visit event if theyโre hiring.โ
The Speed Networking event was also a success with employers such as Deloitteโs Jonathan Meddes, who noted on Twitter that it โwas another great opportunity to meet passionate junior devs.โ

Other opportunities for students to meets employers during their course include regular talks from businesses, both in tech and non-direct tech.
