At CodeClan, we’re celebrating Pride Month to acknowledge and support all of our LGBT students, staff, partners and graduates. Scotland has taken positive steps towards equality in recent years. More and more organisations are realising the importance of promoting inclusive hiring and working cultures that significantly improve the lives of their LGBT staff and foster success.
We acknowledge the challenges that many of our colleagues continue to experience. According to Stonewall Scotland’s LGBT in Scotland Work Report from 2018, one in eight lesbian, gay or bi employees in Scotland are not open about their sexual orientation with any of their colleagues. Almost one in five trans employees are not open with any of their colleagues about their gender identity.
And unfortunately prejudice and abuse of LGBT people still takes place in many Scottish workplaces, with two in five trans employees and one in eight lesbian, gay and bi employees having experiences incidents of negative behaviour from customers.
At CodeClan, we strive to be a place where all LGBT people are welcomed and respected and we hold ourselves to high standards of inclusion. We’re extremely proud of our LGBT community and wish everyone a happy Pride Month!
