Learn about the CodeClan instructor team – their career journey so far, their passions and interests, as well as their day to day work life.
Meet Malcolm, who teaches on our Professional Software Development (PSD) course. We had a chat with him about why he chose to work at CodeClan, his advice for those looking to change their career, and what he gets up to in his free time…
What would you say has been your CodeClan career highlight so far?
Joining the team! I only joined CodeClan in August but it has such a welcoming culture that I have felt right at home from the get-go.
What’s your favourite part of the job?
I am very new to the role, but so far it has been getting to know the students and watching them develop their skills and seeing their confidence grow daily.
What advice do you have for someone who is thinking of studying at CodeClan?
My first bit of advice is do your research, try out a little bit of code and when you feel ready GO FOR IT! It is intensive so be prepared to get fully emerged into the CodeClan journey.
What do you do in your free time?
I like to keep myself very fit. My main means of exercise is currently road cycling. It is nice to get and about and get some fresh country air!
Who would you most like to swap places with for a day?
That’s a very good question. If their skill is also transferred to me then someone like Lewis Hamilton or another F1 racing driver. It would be really cool to spend the day driving a F1 car stupidly fast around a circuit.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself!
I have just recently helped raise money for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. I was a part of a charity cycle (Ride for MND) where we cycled the North Coast 500 in 4 days. It was such an amazing adventure and we raised a massive £118,000! We are slowly planning our next trip…I am getting nervous with how big it will be!
