Web Application Development


Web applications (software applications delivered through the web) play a huge role in our day-to-day online personal and business activities. Having the ability to create and maintain dynamic web apps will enable you to extend your website’s productivity, interact with your users, and personalise the delivery of your products and/or services.

This highly interactive, hands-on course is ideal if you already have some web programming or web design experience. You will learn how to create interactive, responsive web and mobile applications products based on a modern web architecture, integrating and analysing data and APIs, using JavaScript and CSS in a test-driven development environment.

Key Learning

The course explores the key tools and technologies used by professional application developers: Javascript, CSS, APIs, HTTP, JSON. Using these technologies, you will gain practical skills in:

  • modern application architecture
  • responsive web design

You will gain a solid understanding of JavaScript to make a dynamic responsive web application along with modern CSS techniques. We will also examine/discuss the benefits of:

  • JavaScript frameworks
  • test-driven development
  • latest browser technologies

Course Outline

You will gain a fundamental understanding of JavaScript, allowing you to:

  • manipulate browser content
  • listen to user interaction, eg a form input
  • access data from the web
  • analyse and aggregate data
  • build your own front-end application

Course Delivery

Classes are delivered through a series of classroom-based lessons, using a highly interactive teaching style encouraging questions and collaboration.  Additional homework may be required each week.
